A party

What can I say about the last week?   So last weekend we partied and then COVID hit.

But the first party.  My brother in law Dave and Sister in law Loreen had a 30th anniversary party at their home.  We were actually at their wedding all those years ago with the four kids but people didn't really know who we \were.  I remember it was a big deal when Dennis was included in the family picture.

She had tons of food and cooling apparatus strategically placed around their small house and deck.  Sunny afternoon towards the end of the heat wave.  You can see the cake, it was very sweet and rich; Dennis and I split a small piece.

When I look at the group picture, that's Loreen in the center with the rainbow dress.  I recognize most others as family members.

But notice the two men in the foreground.  Dennis, on the right, talking to his birthfather Phil on the left.  We haven't been included in many family events since Anne's passing four years ago.  I had said to Dennis, if you want to get to know your birthfather, you better get busy, he's over 90!  So that was the plan for this party.  I think Phil had the same idea.  So they chatted on the couch for quite a while.  I started scheming with his wife Suzanne (black top on the left).  "We gotta get these two together," I said.  Suzanne agreed, "how about lunch?"  Yes, yes, a good idea.let's do it.  Meanwhile, Phil proclaimed at another attendee "And this guy is my son too!"  "Why don't you come by?"

So we will be getting together... soon.

Except for that other.

Notice nobody masked at the party, not even Dennis,
