Hello Azure fans.  Kinda' quiet on the posts lately.  Had knee replacement surgery 4 1/2 weeks lately and it's slowed me down.  I've been living on the downstairs which does work pretty well.  I will get moved up pretty soon.

I don't know I featured this picture last spring.  This was my Hearth Archives group from temple standing in front of our installation.  I went to Kol Nidre service and it's still there. It was supposed to be a six week study group and it ended up for almost a year.

Group shot from Art Show

Remember that art show we put up at Temple Beth Am last month.  I bugged various family members to come to our show.  So some did show.  Dennis, of course, he made a piece,  it's to the left of mine.  Six total.  His was an annotated comparison of his life with his adoptive family juxtaposed what it might have looked like with his birth family.

Suzie, Stephen, Naomi, Dennis , me, Melina Chris.

Seder was supposed to be last night, but I'm holding one on Sunday. Have most of the parts tugether.

Archives class

We're participating in an Archives class at our synagogue.  Very motivated group.  Many are adult children of parents who came from Europe in the 1920s or after the war.  Like children of Holocaust survivors, they feel a very strong need to preserve the family history.  Last week, the teacher brought the whole photographing set up.  He invited the class members to bring things to be photographed and digitized.

Class members brought in a lot of interesting and compelling items.

This week, the meeting will be at our house.  This shot was taken at the temple library.

Nefesh Mountain

My mom's yartzeit (anniversary of her death) was observed last night at Beth Am.  I generally insist that we attend and try to convince my adult children to come to honor their grandmother.  They generally do, kinda'.  This year, Susanna and Naomi came.  Kaddush, a memorial prayer is said near the end of the service and a list of those recently passed and the yartzeits is read.

This coincided with a special event at Beth Am.  A well-known Jewish bluegrass band appeared and led the service.  Nefesh Mountain.  Featured above with Rabbi Dana and Rabbi Ruth in the background.  Loved them, most rocking Mechamocha I've ever heard.  Been a long time since I've heard some live music!  Really enjoyed it, well attended; I know that they are performing at the Wintergrass festival in Bellevue.
