My mom's yartzeit (anniversary of her death) was observed last night at Beth Am. I generally insist that we attend and try to convince my adult children to come to honor their grandmother. They generally do, kinda'. This year, Susanna and Naomi came. Kaddush, a memorial prayer is said near the end of the service and a list of those recently passed and the yartzeits is read.
This coincided with a special event at Beth Am. A well-known Jewish bluegrass band appeared and led the service. Nefesh Mountain. Featured above with Rabbi Dana and Rabbi Ruth in the background. Loved them, most rocking Mechamocha I've ever heard. Been a long time since I've heard some live music! Really enjoyed it, well attended; I know that they are performing at the Wintergrass festival in Bellevue.
