A group picture at a graduation party held in honor of Meredith D. given by her family and her college friends from Davidson. Susanna's fellow graduate of UAB's master program in occupational therapy bestowed earlier today in Birmingham Alabama. A lovely party including a big bottle of champagne, yummy food and an authentic pimento spread.
Very nice graduation, that's why we came! 39 graduates, most attended.
I'm taking the picture, I blew out some of the faces...

Photoessay #2908 - Proud of my girl
My daughter Susanna has just completed the class portion of her Occupational Therapy Masters at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Two semesters of field work left. She made it through five semesters straight at this southern school.
She said to me last time she was here..."Mom, who would have thought that I would get a masters?" I replied "why not you?"
But it was a big risk to go to Birmingham Alabama and make it work. I never imagined her going to the deep south as a minority kid. But, even before she left, my husband said, she'll change Birmingham herself. And maybe she has.
But she's finished the classroom part and now it's time for the group to scatter. Mostly young Alabama women. And a couple of ringers.
Congratulations!
And congratulations to my daughter Naomi who received her diploma from Central Washington University yesterday.

Photoessay #2832 - Back to Alabama
Megan and Susanna gave me this nice collage in a card with picture from our springtime trip to Alabama earlier in the year. We went to Lafayette to visit Ilana, then drove to Birmingham to visit Susann and then, just to sweeten the pot, the four of us plus their young dog Hammy drove down to the Gulf Coast to a condominium right near the beach. On the outer part of Mobile Bay. Not familiar with that area; us neither? But Susanna knew somebody who knew somebody who rented out condominiums so we went for that. It was a great choice.
Some of the pictures were from Birmingham, some from the beach. Nice assortment!!

Photoessay #2051 - Hamilton and Susanna
Latest picture of Susanna (aka Suzie) and Hamilton (aka Hammy) relaxing in Birmingham Alabama. They're making it work with working and going to school. So far.
Hammy might come with Susanna when she comes here at xmas time. It's hard to make arrangements when you have a dog, I know! I had one house-sitter for my trip but then that fell apart and now I have another. Hope it works out! We pamper Teddy, for sure. As far as older people with their pets, somebody I know says "We've become the people we used to make fun of!" So true.
Today I'm going to go to the Seattle Symphony with a friend who has an extra ticket. I don't think I've ever heard them, though I did go to the Youth Symphony some months ago.
The NYC/Flash trip is coming together. My cousin bought train tickets from New Haven yesterday.
I don't know how old Hammy is, I don't think they do either. He's a puppy....
