Frankie and Grandma

Frankie holding Grandma's hand.  This was entirely his idea.  We're visiting the 1880 farmhouse restored by Mark and Teresa.  Frank at 17 months old is quite selective who he's going to.  He hadn't paid much attention to me.  But we went out back to look at their property and Frankie came right up to me and wanted to hold my hand and walk down to see.  For awhile and then it was over.  But he wanted Grandma's hand.

Good news, my brother had triple bypass surgery in the bay area.  I'm the Designated Decision Maker so I'm the one to get the call.  And I did from the surgeon who assured me the surgery went well, the heart look good.  So he goes into the next phase.

What does it mean, to be the designated person for a family member.  Means there are no more elders in front of you, you're the one!

Matt's new work space

My son in law Matt posted a picture of his new workspace.  At home rather than commuting to Indianapolis.  Ilana is also working from home in her job as library director.  They just finished a painting project on their 2003 era house.  It had really strong colors, wallpaper and wood trim that they did not prefer.  A lot of the walls were mint green, bright pink and olive drab.  It looks nice now!

Ilana and Matt's new house

This is Ilana and Matt's new house in Bloomington.  They closed on it today and the movers start tomorrow.  One reason they bought it was the proximity to Indianapolis where Matt works.  Ilana refers to it as a 'perfectly adequate' house.  It doesn't have the sweet charm of their 1920s Lafayette house (which they will keep and rent.)  But it's a good size and a good location.  Prices are higher in Bloomington but it was fine.

Today was her last day at work and at County Council.  Moving on to bigger and better things at IU!

I think they are happy with it!

Fun at Indiana Beach

My son in law Matthew's dad Matt and his fiance Steph have been visiting in Indiana.  Steph wanted to go on a roller coaster so they went to Indiana Beach Amusement park.  They look like they are having a great time.  Matt's face a little distorted because of the angle; he doesn't really have such chubby cheeks.

Nice summertime fun!

New Homeowners!

Congrats to the new homeowners!

Matt and Ilana closed on their new home in Lafayette IN today.  They are so happy, can you tell from the picture?  You can buy a great house in Indiana at a very reasonable cost.

This house, 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath built in 1925 with detached garage and workshop.

And just 3 houses from where they live now.  So they already know the neighborhood. In town. Complete with the old lady who had to move out.  She insisted on meeting them and asking them to take care of the house.

Ilana kind of wants to get the truck all loaded up just like a longer move, drive it three houses down and unload it.

Matt's birthday was about a week ago.  He said all he wanted was a house.

We were without power today AGAIN, for about 7 hours.  The City Light people didn't show up until about five hours in.  But they came in spades, 5 City Light trucks.  Didn't hear the usual transformer explosion.  Why does the transformer at the head of our street blow up regularly?  Don't know

Photoessay #2851 Grand Prix?

We might go to this event on our upcoming trip.  Apparently this is a big deal in Indiana.  The Grand Prix with go-karts or whatever it is.  Apparently quite colorful and a traditional competition from the engineering types.  A birthday dinner, my father's yartzeit, howling with the wolves, special engineering tour, detrashing the Wabash (we might skip that one).

It will be busy...
