Bath tourism is alive!

Bath tourism is alive and well.  Scoutie (age 2) and Frank (age 3) saw the bathtub in grandparent's house and decided that they would take a bath!  Of course!  Last year when Frank visited he took a bath in every bathtub he saw.  Much splashing and squealing.

The dry dock at the beach

One of the most fun activities at Edmonds beach was watching the guy move boats around at the dry dock facility.  Kept Frankie busy for quite some time.  Naomi brought a special treat with matching clothes for her and the grandkids.  Frankie with his shirt and Scoutie with the dress matching Aunt Naomi.  I think that Tiny Simon got one too.

So much to do at Edmonds beach

The Stonebrakers are here! We went to the beach!

Ilana and her family are here.  We went to the beach the other day.  Taken from afar, we see Naomi, Ilana and Frankie playing in the sand.  I'm sure that Suzie or Megan and Scout involved with the sand.

A gift for Simon

When we were in Bloomington visiting Tiny Simon and his family and a gift arrived from my friends here in the Seattle area.  There's not so many gifts for second babies,  Simon is doing well, he had to have some hernia surgery (not related to the traumatic birth).  Developmentally, he's doing great.  He will be followed by Riley Pediatric Hospital (the level 4 NICU) for awhile.  I'm going to check with these friends.

Scoutie and Frank

OK, I'm going to try to be back.

I last posted on Oct 11.  Since then, I've had a complete knee replacement on Oct 23.  Seven weeks ago.  So I've been out of it.  But I'm coming back.

Here's a picture from Suzie and Megan's trip to Indiana.  The cousins Scoutie and Frankie got to spend some together.  Scouties is nearly a year younger than Frankie but is bigger at this point.  She LOVES everything Frankie.  Frankie is not so sure about Scoutie.  But they had some good times together.  I actually gave that wagon to Frankie (first birthday?) not sure.  But they had some good walks and played in leaves.

Frank rocks rainbow

My cousin Maryann sent me a box of sweaters that my mother made.  Especially ones for kids.  There were two of these rainbow sweaters and hats.  Probably made by my mother Claire for my cousin Maryann's 2 grandsons who are close together in age.  Frankie's looking pretty good in his rainbow finery.  With his father Matthew at a bagel place in Bloomington.

Frankie and Grandma

Frankie holding Grandma's hand.  This was entirely his idea.  We're visiting the 1880 farmhouse restored by Mark and Teresa.  Frank at 17 months old is quite selective who he's going to.  He hadn't paid much attention to me.  But we went out back to look at their property and Frankie came right up to me and wanted to hold my hand and walk down to see.  For awhile and then it was over.  But he wanted Grandma's hand.

Good news, my brother had triple bypass surgery in the bay area.  I'm the Designated Decision Maker so I'm the one to get the call.  And I did from the surgeon who assured me the surgery went well, the heart look good.  So he goes into the next phase.

What does it mean, to be the designated person for a family member.  Means there are no more elders in front of you, you're the one!

Frankie goes down the slide

https://twitter.com/librarianilana/status/1543744253532176389?s=21

Frankie went down the slide all by himself!  And he meant to do it too.  A bit of landing error.  But he did it!

See if you click on that twitter link

Frankie gets his first haircut

Frankie gets his first haircut!  Age 13 months.  On his dad's lap, what is this all about?  As baby, his hair is really golden though it looks different colors at different times.

His latest fave, I hope I get a picture.  He discovered the most wonderful thing EVER!  The hose.  So much fun.

Frankie's swing

Frankie has a new swing on the front porch.  Mounted us engineering knowhow.  Provided by his daddy Matt (shown).  Frankie, age 1, really likes it.  Even better when Matt is around.

Kitchen Construction

So that play kitchen?  It came in a flat box.  100+ pieces.  49 instruction steps.  Above, see Frankie's dad and grandpa doggedly putting it together.  Actually it went together pretty well and they were able to get it all set up.  Harbinger of the future, I think.  There's a lot you can do with that kitchen.

Frankie's first swimming lesson

Frankie had his first swimming lesson today.  At 10 months.  He's in a baby swim class.  Here he is with his mom.  New swim trunks and all.  Reports that he enjoyed it a lot except when he had to put his head underwater.  Very interested in watching everybody.  Next class next week!

Happy New Year Frankie!

Happy New Year Frankie, now 9 months old.  It's his very first new year.  When asked about his goals for 2022, his father replied approx "eat solid food, grow more hairs, learn to walk"  I think he will be able to accomplish all of these.  He got his eye color from his mama!  Cutie!

The new wagon

Here's Frankie in the new wagon that we bought him for xmas.  It has seat belts and it folds up.  He went for a ride pulled by his father.  It looks like a float, he's ready to be in a parade.

Frankie on a trip

Here is Ilana and Frankie on their one day stay at the French Lick Resort in Indiana.  A pretty big fancy resort.  A lot of fun activities; they even got to go to the big pool early in the morning; had the whole place to themselves.  Matt there too, of course.  They are in front of beautifully decorated huge Christmas tree.  Frank's a pepper and did great at 7 months.

At the Pumpkin Farm

Frank, along with 3 of the other babies from the Lamb Room went to the pumpkin farm.  The families all went together.  Franks wasn't quite sure about all this.  Lots of simulation and new things and outside.  But he's always up for an adventure.  Posed here with a lot of pumpkins.  Six months old.

Frank is sitting up...and loving it

He can do it.  And when you sit up, you can reach ALL (or many more) of your toys.  Yes, that's Minerva the cat in the background.  She's not too interested in Frank.  But he's got that smile.  And looks like brown eyes.  He's got some brown hair coming in.  I think my mother would have just loved him.

Frankie's on his way to day care

Ilana and Frankie on their way to day care.  They do an adjustment schedule for the first week or so for the babies.  First, a parent is there the whole time (shorter than usual) then  the parent is not there for a bit.  Then, the whole time is a little longer.  So far so good.  Ilana was very grateful to get this daycare slot as she wants to return to her library director duties.  She just started that job and then COVID hit.
