Photoessay #2576 - Power outage

I am weary of the fact that every time the wind blows here in Lake Forest Park, we lose power.  Mostly in the last 10 years, before that we rarely did.  Since the calendar now says November, yup time for those November windstorms.  C'mon it was only Nov 2 and the paper said that most of the wind would go north.

It didn't.  It blew in Seattle and, big surprise, our power went out around 11am.  I was busy with a team meeting and then running the Parent Group rep meeting; I didn't get home until about 3:30pm.  With a short aborted stop at U Village QFC.  That big store had lost their power and the auxilliary power kept going on and off.  I gave up buying their kosher meat and moved on.

Power finally came back on around 4am.  Hate it hate it hate it.  We went up to our favorite Mexican restaurant, closed for catering again.  Dang.  Settled for Vietnamese sandwiches but not the same.  It was much better with our gas fireplace.  Gave out a fair amount of heat and some light.  A lot easier with just Dennis and me here not a whole crowd of people.  I did finish my reading for the next class by a little portable lamp thingie.  With the power out and the time change, we woke up and I didn't know what time it was, at all.

Unfortunately Melina cancelled on us again.  We were going to go to Science Center, etc.  Danny and Jessica are going to come over for awhile.

Cool picture, eh?  It's from some big power outage in 1965.
