Photoessay #2439 - Recovery

As I wrote yesterday, I went downtown to do some stealth court support.  I drove down to the Northgate Park & Ride to take 41 bus downtown.  Articulated bus.  I take another articulated bus down to the university.  I almost always sit in the front.  I have noticed that you do have to brace yourself going around the corner if you are sitting on the aisle side.

The 41 bus was crowded midday.  No room in the front; no biggie I'll sit in the back.  I do sitting on one of the few seats.  I'm on the aisle, the guy next to me is a little 'sketch' as my daughters would say so I'm not sitting real close to him.  The bus leaves the park and ride.

I didn't count on the whiplash effect on the back of the articulated bus.  Nor that the driver would accelerate so fast as he turned out.  So on a articulated bus the centrifugal force moves my body to the left but the area in front of me with the poles to hold is moving to the right.  Bad combination especially since those seats are slippery.

So the bus turns and I feel myself slipping to the left.  I reach for the poles in front of me but nowhere near my grasp.  So I keep sliding, I'm going off.  I can't stop it.  Sure enough, in the crowded bus I fall off the seat and land on my back in the aisle.  The aisle is not flat; there's a step or two.  The other passengers jump into action helping me up."Are you ok?" Collect my belongings.  My first reaction is that I'm ok, whew.  Then I'm embarrassed being laid out on my back in the aisle.  I get up, yes, yes I'm ok.

It's only later that I start to hurt.  I'm a little banged up and maybe I hurt my lower back, bruise my tailbone?  Didn't do any good for upper back either.

So today, I'm sore, in recovery.  This is my second day this week, I got so overheated on Wednesday, I took Thursday to get better.

At least, they're making mole in my favorite taco place!
