Naomi will be doing her student teaching a year from now. She is highly committed to being an elementary school teacher. There will always be work for committed talented teachers. She's doing it, she means it. She's finally taking all education classes in the program at Central Washington University. I live in Black Hall, she says.
She's building her classroom now. Last summer and during this break, she prowls the thrift stores and Craig's list for books and classroom supplies. We've done a good job during the past year clearing out lots of junk. Our rooms previously occupied by our older three kids have been re-purposed. Ilana's old room had become the storage room but now it's set up with a work area and the back part is dedicated as a staging area for Naomi's future classroom. Somebody told her that she should have a classroom library of 12K books. She is a literary major but still, that's a lot of books. She's especially interested in non-fiction books, books about things.
Look at the paper and the puppets she scored the other day.
Previously it was all caught up in the mess in her bedroom. Now she can use the back half of this room to stage things. It looks like a great start!
Nice New Year's Eve Party last night at Ann's. We stayed the whole time, nice folks, we were supposed to tell stories and we did.
