Photoessay #2069 - Working with Colin

I had really hoped to work with Colin Caplan on my trip.  I had enjoyed his books and the  historical images on his website for his business:

Magrisson Forte

He was the one who identified Maier Zunder's house for me. He's done whole programs on another great great grandfather Paul Weil.  Architectural History, specifically New Haven, interests him.  Me, too!

He also does the Taste of New Haven tours.  I bought six tickets for last Sunday afternoon with my cousins and spouses.  Fun!

I did get a chance to meet with him.  He likes to meet with people at the Institute Library, a private library in downtown New Haven, started in 1826 and moved into it's present quarters in 1870.  Going through a renewal!  Loved the place!  I joined, became a member.

We talked about Paul Weil, Maier Zunder (yes, said Colin, everyone referred to him as the leader) and looked for Cherry Street.  He had a partial view of the street, not sure where he got it.  Anyway two hours whizzed by.

I consider him a very important resource.

I took this picture in the Institute Library during our meeting, my cousin also in the shot.
