Photoessay #1999 - California shot
Appropriated this shot from Matt S from his trip to Southern California a few weeks ago on his all expenses paid photo shoot for g4tv. Nice picture though it does have a lot of movement in it. Looks like a vacation.
We're not so bad off, we have a vacation trip planned in 4 weeks to Ann Arbor for Ilana's graduation then off to St. Augustine Florida. Have pet sitting lined up. We intend to go to Kit Carson in the High Sierras in late June.
Life looks a bit difficult right now with some challenges we hadn't quite anticipated. Still I'm optimistic. Maybe we need to speed up the move to the Edmonds condo. There is the slight detail that the owners have not agreed to sell to us. Other than that, it should work out great! I know that getting rid of half of our 'stuff' will challenge us big time. And what about my emotionally needy (but extremely sweet) sixy pound mongrel Teddy? He needs his backyard. The mailman said to me the other day "You have such a cute pit, I love him!" Harumph, I say, he's NOT a pit bull. OK he looks like it but I don't have to admit it, do I?
My main issue this afternoon is I carried too much stuff for too long at the main UW campus today. Oh, it's no big deal, I told myself, I can just walk to Suzallo (library) from here. I neglected to note the grade on the way back to the car plus the books and microfilm that they had ready for me. One book ( circa 1893) was so heavy, I knew I had to get what I might need right then because no way was I carrying that sucker around.
Since I have kids that age, I was tempted to say to a young person walking near me "You there, could you carry this for me?" Not ok, but I was tempted. Just like I found that the 'mom dirty look' worked quite effectively when I was ushering for the UW football game. You just throw them that look and they cut it out. It worked sometimes!
