Photoessay #1960 - New Digs
My genealogy/family history class is meeting in a new room this quarter. Huge improvement! Before we were stuck in this crowded stuffy room jammed with desks in one of the really old buildings, You couldn't walk around and no matter where we sat, we were always walking over somebody. The class couldn't interact; the internet didn't work reliably.
But we moved up dramatically into one of the nice new classrooms in Paccar Hall, the new home for the Business School. The room is spacious, it's set up in a way so that the class members can interact with each other. The rows are elevated gently; the chairs turn around so you can turn and listen to whoever's talking. A great design. Pretty spacious; I'm sure it's not the most efficient use of space. But makes for a great learning environment. I'm now having all of my library materials sent to the Foster Business Library (Ilana's former haunt) on the lower floors.
There's a place to meet with class members and teachers in the big common area, lots of people around.
Marvin wrote me from the Jewish Historical Society and, alas, told me that the Horeb lodge's 50th anniversary celebration was in January 2006 and the memorial for Maier was in December 2006 so that theory bites the dust. Dang, it made so much sense yesterday. So I still don't know why they held the memorial 5.5 years after he died.
Now I'm learning about how to get land and probate records and will make my first incursion into a LSD family history center tomorrow. They have one in Montlake Terrace!
Heard from another Maier Zunder descendant today, hope to hear more....
