Photoessay #1452 - Chick pics

Today, we did sightseeing pretty hard with Charlie. First we went to Pike Place Market and Charl bought a bunch of fish (Copper River Salmon) to take with him and some for us. Then on to Edmonds where we took a ferry to Kingston and back. Back home to find that James had completed our new kitchen countertops (just replacing a few of what we have where the pattern had worn off) Lucky for us he likes Teddy.

Then to Alki for fish and chips at Spud and walk around Alki Beach. The Claire Ginsburgh Memorial trip, she always loved going there and getting fish and chips when she visited.

But the best surprise of the day were seagull chicks. A mama seagull had made a makeshift nest for her two babies on top of some wood pilings right next to the ferry moorage at Kingston. You looked right down on them when the ferry was stopped.

I had never seen baby seagulls. Who knew that they had those cute spotted heads? The mama seagull stood nearby and occasionally went on short forays to bring food back home for her two chicks.
