Photoessay #1304 - Our Reading--Don't miss it!

Dennis (and April) saw this announcement in the weekend section of the Seattle Times. Didn't even know they had a 'readings' section.

My memoir class will do a reading at 6pm at University Book Store on Tuesday. We drew names at class last week to determine the order. I'm smack in the middle (#7 of 16). I've been working on that 'sign from the universe' piece. I've changed it around, especially the beginning and the end. And the middle. Hoping I'm making it better.

The hard work doesn't bother me. Even the lack of talent doesn't bother me. It's the time for me to work on my writing, I've got the time. I'm 59, it's now or never really. It feels frustrating when the piece gets criticized but after you get over it, it's not so bad to start changing it. Why is this part in here? What is the character talking about here? Does this advance the story? Fortunately, my piece has an arc and it does have dialogue.

Come and listen! It will be fun!

Also watching the softball super regionals. Oregon went out 0-2 against Florida. I tried unsuccessfully all week to get in contact with any of the Oregon parents who might be going. No luck. Ilana, in Gainesville, attended the game wearing her Oregon shirt. Not too much to cheer about.

I would love to take a class on writing, because I want to write my life in the form of a novel. That's how I am, some of my life I would not want spread out in a memoir, but it needs to be told. I am so busy teaching right now that I barely have time to prepare lessons--your blog has inspired me, and I love the goals you have set. If people don't write goals out they usually don't achieve them! Good for you.
