Photoessay #1299 - Huskies on to Super Regional

Today, Dennis and I went to our first SIFF movie at the Harvard Exit on Capitol Hill. Cameraman, about Jack Cardif who did cinematography and directed on many movies over many decades. Especially Made us realize how many movies we hadn't seen. We stayed on Capitol Hill having a nice lunch at a somewhat unusual Mexican restaurant. Then we went on to the finals of the NCAA Regional softball tournament at Husky Stadium.

We had arranged for a dog babysitting visit from Uncle Dan next door.

BYU had to beat Univ of Washington twice to advance to the super-regionals. If that had happened, it would have been bad for the top seeded Huskies because they really only had one top flight pitcher, freshman Caitlin Inglesby. Their other pictures have been ok but she carries the team. She REALLY carries the team, she's near the top in batting average and home runs.

The game turned out to be rather ragged with 5 total errors. BYU battled and battled but the Washington Huskies eventually won 7-5. Inglesby threw every pitch, had two hits and finished the game despite being hit hard by a batted ball in the 7th. Whatever it works, Husky fans celebrated; they will move on to the super-regionals. This regional is one day ahead of the other regional because BYU refuses to play on Sunday. So all of the other regionals are still on day 2.

Oregon has won both of their games so far.

Picture of Jen Sallling, Washington's all american shortstop who has been playing for six years (2 red shirt years). During a pitch in the bottom of the 7th when BYU was threatening AGAIN. Jen started her career at Oregon. Susanna and Jen were Oregon's middle infield in 2007.

The other shot is the view from my seat in Husky Stadium. No lie. OK, I'm using the telephoto on my lens. You are looking over Lake Washington seeing part of the 520 bridge over the lake to Bellevue and the Cascade mountains beyond. Taken yesterday when the sun was out.
