Photoessay #912 - Cruise

Seems like it's cold everywhere today. Including here. We are supposed to be attending an anniversary party put on my their son in a bit.

So, let's think warm. In 2007, the year after my father's death, my mother decided that she wanted to go on a cruise. She invited Pam to go along, mom would pay if Pam would go with her. Pam, who was still struggling with sales jobs that did not work out, jumped at the chance. So come February off they went. I remember being there in January, working with my mom to set up her activities online for the cruise. My sister and I were looking at the materials, we discovered that your passport had to be good for at least for six months past the cruise date. My mom's passport expired in 4 months. Yikes. My mom kept saying that she didn't drive in the dark or the snow. Late Friday afternoon, dark and snowy. Somehow we figure out that if you go to the main post office (all the way cross town) and pay some extra fee, you can get it renewed in time. So off we went through the dark and snow, but it worked out.

My sister put everything together including multiple dinner outfits. They went and did it, it was warm, there were palm trees, they did everything. My sister got my mom situated at home and then drove home. She said she had never been so exhausted in all her life. I believe her.

I have this souvenir photo. They're both doing better now, my mom's defibrillator surgery has taken 10 years off her age and my sister has the job at the NPR station in Lafayette.

It's 17 degrees in Pullman, cold Naomi!

I know I've featured a lot of doggy pictures. But today, Teddy is 1 year old today! Happy birthday, not a puppy any more.
