We had a wonderful dinner last night at the Steamboat Inn. Known for it's fine dining, they put on a single menu one seating dinner every night. It's more like going to a very nice dinner party. October, middle of the week, not full by any means. In fact, there were 8 of us plus the family. Fishing, big into fishing. Two father son fishing pairs and another couple our own age. Mmmmmm butternut pumpkin soup, mixed vegetables with chanterelle mushrooms, beets, yummy mashed potatoes and some kind of lamb dish with a delicious sauce. Warm almond cake with caramel sauce with whipped cream. All at one long table.
Yesterday I featured one view of the river, I will most more when I get home when I can look at them and maybe crop or correct color. This morning another lovely meal and one of the other desks took this picture of Dennis and me. Not bad!
We made our way to Crater Lake. Not paying attention, I forgot that the huge elevation gain. Maybe Steamboat Inn on the North Umpqua is at 1000 feet. You go up to Crater Lake and it's 8000 feet. No lie, wayyyyy up there. And a stunning site. The color from the pictures all washed out. Will improve later.
Dennis really wanted to go over Route 66 between Klamath Falls and Ashland because he rode his bicycle on it MANY years ago. Ok, ok, we went through Klamath Falls. But he kept saying that it didn't look familiar, maybe because of a lot of second growth timber? Trees can grow a lot in 37 years....
Now in Ashland.
