And it did work, they STILL use it. And parts of it are on the UCSC website because nobody else knew anything.
So long story short, I began to think I needed to be involved with this award, a sizable award given to graduating senior (s) with meritorious achievement in the exact sciences. So they allowed me to give a program at the College Luncheon. In the process, I got kicked upstairs, I needed to make this work; it had to be good.
So I've been working on it for months. Got Priscilla's high school friend, Jean to help. She made the program we gave out.
Jean felt very strongly about a version of this picture. That's me, age 18, on the right. And Priscilla on the left. We're not actually at Crown yet, this is spring 1970, we're still in high school. But we've both been accepted. My father took the day off and took Priscilla and me to UCSC to visit. Here we are near the administration building.
The best part is Priscilla. Big smile, open relaxed gait. She is feeling good about this whole deal. She is on her way.
How did the program go, very successful. I had found some of the recipients and got their story. I started and talked about Priscilla, then Jeanie presented the stories of the 4 recipients. We talked about the impact of the award. At the end the Provost announced this year's winners and they came up (didn't know he was going to do that, but great!)
Jean put it on the back of the program. In color.
