Farewell to our 2007 white Prius, I still think about it as our 'new car.' We traded it in at the dealer in Bremerton. We got 155K miles on it. I would have kept it longer but there was some unpleasantness with the Check Engine light and a report of major impending engine problems. So we knew it had to go. I figured that it was like computers, once they start to fail, don't try to fix it, don't try to upgrade it, don't try to eke out some extra months. Time to get a new one before this failing machine is going to do real damage to things important to you.
What did we get? Bet you can guess. If I don't have the picture tonight, I will post them tomorrow.
But sometimes do you think of cars as sentient beings. I took all the stuff out of it, we left it at the dealership. They traded it in for $3700 even with the Check Engine light on. Dennis was very upfront about it. But I kind of worry, where is it tonight? Is it ok? Are they going to junk it? Fix it? I've been with it for 15 years.. It's been a family car all these years.
Also we saved 10K by going to Bremerton. These days you have to buy cars before they are even delivered. I do admit, walking away from several deposits during the process.
