Yesterday, I got some terrible news. My daughter's grad school roommate's father lost his life to Covid-19. Emily and Ilana were roommates in Ann Arbor and remained in touch. Emily now lives in Phnom Penh. This picture looks SO much like Emily. I know we met him during the graduation activities. This is the first person that I know to die from COVID. Not contractng it or being ill but actually dying. He was only 60 years old. Horrible!
I'm making arrangements for kaddush to be said in my synagogue and also my sister in Lafayette. I think Emily was touched by that.
Emily wrote this in a Facebook post; that's how I heard about it.
Today, just now, I lost one of my best friends. He’s been in the hospital for the last month, fighting COVID with every ounce of strength in him, but his kidneys failed and his lungs were beyond repair and he decided it was time to leave his earthly body for the next life.It was incredibly hard to let him go, but I have a firm knowledge that, in the scope of eternity, our separation will be but a small moment.I look forward to the day when our eternal family can be reunited, when Christ will remove the sting of death. Love you dad.
