120 out of 169 of Justice Ginsburg's law clerks came to the Supreme Court and honor her as her casket is carried up the building's steps. I've looked at several images and this one captures the sad yet proud event as her clerks stand guard. I count only about 50 people in this picture so there's a lot not shown in this image.
Something about this picture makes me sob. All these talented young people come too pay their respects. How proud they must all be to have had the honor. Now you have to be way talented to be a law clerk, and certainly to the supremes. But if I had had that distinction there would be nothing to stop me from taking my place on those steps. Apparently they will guard the casket during the public viewing.
Apparently Justice Ginsburg will be the first woman to lay in state at the US Capitol. Don't you find that appalling?
