This morning Ilana and I made homemade applesauce. For our latke dinner tomorrow night. Making applesauce is counter-intuitive as storebought apple sauce is inexpensive. But homemade is so much better. We made two batches. "I don't know if this is enough," I mused, "but I'm out of apples, maybe I have to go to the store." My son in law Matt looked at the bowl, "Sandy, I think that's enough applesauce." "Even for 11 people, for latkes?" "Oh!, " he replied, "I thought this was just for breakfast. For latkes? No, this is not enough for latkes, definitely not enough!
You need lots for the delicious latke meal. Which will be, latkes, applesauce, brisket and vegetables and sour cream.
I went back to the store and made another batch.
