Photoessay #2844 - Dicks

As we work through the holiday season visit of my three grown daughters and two significant others, there are some high points we must hit.  Including the dumpling house in north Greenwood this evening.  For Susanna's birthday.  Danny and Jessica will join us.

We've had the Pagliacci's pizza, we've had the xmas visit and the usual mass amount of goodies that works its way into my house no matter what I do.  Not that I don't like the cookies, candies, cakes, cinaamon rolls, bon bons etc ETC.  I've knocked down my share at least.

This shot commemorates another 'must do' especially for the family members currently residing in Alabama and Indiana...Dicks.  Dicks Hamburgers.  Clearly a successful brand and local icon.  Everybody loves Dicks.  Visitors just don't get it.  The menu is very limited, you have buy at the window.  A few kinds of burgers (I always get the Deluxe), fries, shakes, soda, ice cream, that's about it).  Outsiders say 'the fries are greasy'.  Ilana replies "Of course, they're greasy, it's Dicks!"  You get what you expect and it's consistent and tastes darn good and its Dicks.  Enough said.  When they opened a new Dicks in Edmonds, it was a huge deal.  Its local, its a good employer, its consistent, it is unassuming and just does what it does, being Dicks.

Everybody wanted to go to Dicks first thing.  So we did, there's always customers.  Because its Dicks.

Susanna's pleased.
