Photoessay #2082 - Plenty of hope

In my class, we are reading some Kafka.  So full of despair.

There's hope, plenty of hope, but not for us
We spent a whole class session on a short piece "Before the Law," full of hopelessness, absurdity and despair.  As the professor starts to wind up this class, it's going to be an attack on modernity.  How far we have fallen from the hopeful words of Mendelson and the Enlightenment!

This next class session, he's going to cover "The Penal Colony."  That was so dreadful, I don't think I can look at it again even for review.   It makes me not even want to go!

I think I've got a class lined up for winter "Everyday Life in the 19th century."  I'll have to write the professor and she what she thinks of Access Students.
