Photoessay #2074 - Get a load of this crew!

Dennis is going to install a new computer for me tonight.  He actually bought it 8 months ago.  He set it up in a corner.  Then he got sick and this and that and it's still sitting over there.  It's not doing any good, so he's going to do it.

Which means I have to clean up my work area.  And he'll be freaked out when he finds out that I have nearly 10K messages in my inbox.  So I'm cleaning them out.  Found this from Grandma Anne.

Oh yeah, I remember this day.  As usual, I date the picture by the age of the youngest.  Naomi's maybe 2 here?  So maybe 1992?

So Dennis has been in touch with his birthfamily for maybe 5 years but not completely integrated into the extended family like we are now.  We were still a novelty item.  The occasion was Frances 80th birthday.  Frances was Anne's stepmother.  So, to be technical, his birth step grandmother.

So we're invited, a lot of the extended family is there.  And look at the crew we show up with!  No wonder we never got invited twice anywhere!  I don't think there were any other kids there.  Most members of this family are unmarried or had few children.  And what's the deal with the dark featured wife and those asian kids?  And so many of them!  Many of the family members had not met Dennis before, heard about him.  Not sure what they thought or how they should act.

During this period, we overwhelmed just about any gathering on numbers alone.  We were introduced and everybody was cordial if somewhat shell-shocked.....

My hope is that Dennis will install everything while I'm at a team meeting and Changes tonight. We discussed it; is it better if I'm here or gone? I myself go for the entitled person's view that I just come home and it's done. I don't suffer during the invariable setbacks. Saturday, he's probably going to go help his aunts and Sunday, we're going the zoo for Melina's birthday (she's 12!)
