Photoessay #2031 - Coach Amy
One of Susanna's best friends (and frequent visitor to our house for years), Amy, is now head coach of a 16U girl's softball team. Dennis has enjoyed going to some of the local softball tournaments and he likes me and Teddy to come with him. Teddy wore his pack and carried our items for us (camera, water bottle, etc).
Many of the tournaments are to the south of us in Kent. Regionally very dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on leash at the softball tournaments and the snack bar gives out dog cookies. Lots of people bring dogs.
Amy's the head coach and has several dad assistants. She's finding it more challenging as she feels so responsible. I think you have to coach for awhile to find the right balance. We watched; Amy's team lost a lot to a little but I was very impressed with their general play in the field. They seemed well coached, in position, made some great infield and outfield plays. Good fielding and throws. Very positive, overall.
I'll feature two not so great pictures. First, Amy as head coach in the ritual meeting the other coach and umpires at home plate before the game. I know there's a way to not have the camera focus on the chain link fence but I couldn't get it quite to work. And, after the game, at the ritual gathering of players and coaches to talk about the game.
Go Coach Amy! We know you can do it!
