Photoessay #2108 - End of summer class

My summer class ended today and I had this picture taken to commemorate the occasion at the end.  I stuck my head out in the hall of first floor of Savery Hall and called out to whatever poor soul happened to be passing by to take the picture.  Professor Wellman is in the center at the back.  And Kendall is wearing metal dark blue lipstick.

It's been a great four weeks, I enjoyed it so much.  The professor liked my paper which now out for review (I love saying that).  The three other Access members (folks 60 or over, three men) came often.  Many lively discussions.  The teacher mused, some of my other faculty friends says to me "How can I get my students to contribute to discussions, this class, I can't get you to shut up."  The three women, well we all had a lot to say.  The young woman front row left did not say a single word the whole time.  She did say she grew up in Tokyo.  However the rest of us made up for it.  At one point today, we are all hot into it and Jerry (squatting in front) raised his hand "Professor, I might be off topic,: and he asked a question about something on the slide.  All the discussants stopped and said "Jerry, you are the only one ON topic."

One discussion topic centered around the Republican party centering themselves on the evangelical Protestants.  Maybe the worst thing for the Republicans would be if Roe v. Wade was overturned.  Then they could rally the crowds on the emotion-laden topic of abortion.

At the end, we were asked what we had gotten out of the class.  I said learning about the varieties and complexity of evangelical Protestantism.  Jerry said, learning about people from different backgrounds.

Anyway, I went out to lunch (to Thai 65 Ilana) with two students and picked up the check.  Went to my disability appointment which went fine.  A bit of frustration when an old lady hit the bus in Lake City which delayed all of us.

I find that I'm exhausted to have this intense class over.  I have my other class tonight.
