Photoessay #2106 - Mount Rainier

Last summer, Melina really wanted to go to Mount Rainier.  Seemed like a great idea, so we did it.  There's two main destinations, Sunrise on the east side and Paradise on the south side.  Last summer we went to Sunrise, a bit easier to get to though a smaller complex.  Melina loved it especially because she could slide on some snow in the parking lot.

She's always said that she would like to go to Paradise, so we agreed to go.  Grab the moment.  This time she brought a friend which worked out great (she's 11).  Longer trip.  Beautiful day, tons and tons of wildflowers, I took dozens of out of focus uninapiring wildflower pictures.

We did a short hike in the middle.  Melina was still looking for snow to slide on.  Not so much at Paradise in August.  But there was some snow.  Dennis took Melina and Melody to a small patch in the meadow (careful, you can's walk IN the meadow, only on the trails.  I was sitting down by the visitor center.  I took this picture using some zoom.  Melina, Melody and Dennis are on the right, the snow patch is on the left.  And you can see some of that huge mountain.

And probably my best bet at an acceptable wildflower picture.
