We own a whole collection of red bound books possibly belonging to my grandfather "Young Folks Treasury" dated 1909. Examples of those old books that you can't imagine anybody reading but you feel guilty just heaving them into the Goodwill pile. According to the selling websites, they are quite common and not worth $ if that's what you're thinking. Things like this fill our house. We just got rid of a ton of stuff through Susanna's garage sale/cleanout. But not enough.
Dennis is finally on the job going through the files and bill boxes generating a ton of old papers to be shredded. We found out that the local center for adults with developmental disabilities have a shredding business. We're there. My short term goal is to have only one room in our house where we just generally pitch stuff that we don't know what to do with. The den upstairs is almost there and our downstairs guestroom has some extra stuff but not too bad. It's Ilana's old room where Dennis is working right now that currently holds the 'stuff'. Some will leave when Naomi sets up her apartment in Ellensburg.
Readers may remember my 'clean' garage from a few weeks ago. Alas, that picture was historical because I didn't know that Susanna and Megan were going to store a bunch of stuff there for the duration.
Wait, wait, why am I talking about this? It's hot (for here) and our plans got cancelled for today. Next weekend we're taking Melina to another place at Mount Rainier.
OK, Edison, focus. No wonder I don't seem to be able to get anything done here. That's happened twice when I turned something big in. For a few days, I can't really focus.
Looking in that Young Folks Treasury, I came across this great picture of Thomas Edison. In his laboratory. Being 'inventy'. Doesn't this man look like he's going to invent something very very soon. If you blow up the picture and look at his expression, you can see why he accomplished so much. This man shows tremendous focus. Check out all those cool bottles of mysterious stuff he has. Plus the stains on his suit pants, natch. This picture was taken sometime within 10 years or so of the book's publication.
Focus, that's what's today's entry is about. See, sometimes you don't know until you start writing.
