Photoessay #1990 - Chicken Soup
Yesterday, I made a pot of chicken soup. Recently I had a terrible bout with 'that bug' that was going around. It took nearly a week for me to feel halfway decent. Now Dennis has it and his case seems worse than mine. He went to see the doctor Friday who truly suggested chicken soup. My local grocery sells some soup all made. "Why would anybody buy soup?" I had though previously. I checked, they had chicken noodle soup, I bought a quart or so.
I made some from scratch yesterday. As traditional, I threw in whatever I had on hand though I did buy some celery. I'll heat some up for lunch today.
Did some entertaining court support yesterday. 15 year old boy brought to court for probation violations after less than a month. At this point, he feels that nobody can tell him what to do and that he can decide for himself. mmmm, not so much. You need to learn to respect the court. He was remanded to detention for some days then electronic home monitoring. Nobody wishes these outcomes for their child. But sometimes they need to learn the limits before they will be involved with adult court. Some need the school of hard knocks.
Let me clarify. Not entertaining because the child received consequences. More entertaining because the court appearance was substantive. The child's attorney brought up some colorful if weak arguments. He even cross-examined the probation officer. Judge wasn't buying it. At one point the defense attorney told the judge he had a 'jaundiced view of humanity'.
Often when you do court support, you may wait hours with the family then be barred from the courtroom or everything gets decided behind the scenes.
