Photoessay #1954 - Bellevue

We staged a short visit to Bellevue today with Melina. Last year, we opened up our grand museum tour at the Bellevue Art Museum and ended up paying extra to go to a fancy art jewelry fair there. Dennis remembered enjoying it quite a bit and Melina did too.

I mentioned that it was back and Dennis thought we should go again. Now, looking at art jewelry is NOT something we would do normally. But, ok, fine. Melina also wanted to go back to a fancy bakery in 'old Bellevue' (if such a thing exists). So we've been off the Melina train lately so I pitch this short trip today and she went for it.

So, interesting exhibits, some fifties designer and architect, I can see how influential he is because it all looks so familiar. And some 'weird with a beard' ceramics worthy of the Bellevue Art museum of old. Ilana and I would go to the Henry or the Bellevue art museum. Our rule was you could not look up what was there, you had to hit it cold. My best experience was going up in the elevator in the Bellevue into their big gallery and being immersed in immense revolutionary war puppets. The gigantic brilliant ones used in parades. Almost literally knocked us off your feet. Organize and smash the state, oh yeah.

On to the bakery. Picture of Melina and her raspberry tart, I've had that one before, mmmm. Plus she didn't want the chocolate shell so I ate it.

And some beautiful work we saw in the jewelry show.
