Photoessay #1945 - Hall and fireplace
Check out my new hall and fireplace. I should have taken a before and after picture of the hall. I live in a conventional 1970s split entry house. Don't get me wrong, I like this house. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when we bought this house in 1987. Previously we lived in a 1200 sq foot rambler 3 bed 1 bath. With three kids, dog and cats. When we moved in, this house had 4 bedrooms and 2 baths and a family room. We've since added a bedroom and bathroom (not a real addition, just using the space). Also added another kid but that WAS a while back. This house is fine though it's dawning on me that my backyard has turned into a mudpit and probably needs a drainage project all over again (we did one 15 years ago?).
OK, back to my hall and my fireplace. I've closed some of the doors so you can see them. It looks really nice, no more crummy dark fake wood plastic paneling, no more cheap hollow core doors with holes in them. No more worn carpeting.
And the fireplace. I start taking pictures and Teddy immediately gets into position. I think it came out great. It used to be two sided; same tile on the hearth. It's great, when it's chilly you just sit next to it, turn it on and warm up your bones.
