Photoessay #1919 - Dinner in Tacoma

Today Dennis and I went to a family dinner at a waterfront restaurant in Tacoma to celebrate January birthdays (mostly Dennis and Grandma Anne) We visited Anne in her new place at a Wesley community in Des Moines and brought her a pot with narcissus.

We had been to this same restaurant in December to celebrate Aunt Emily's birthday (who actually is the same age as me). They were handing out coupons for substantial discounts in January. We decided to gather up the coupons and use them for another birthday dinner. Originally we were going to use a location closer but Aunt Emily has had some back surgery and Tacoma was the better location for her.

We got there close to sundown and I took this shot just as we got to the reataurant. Looking across Commencement Bay to Brown's Point at the edge of Federal Way. Pretty! Lovely colors in the Puget Sound region even in dismal January.

Partway through the dinner, my brother in law Bryan announced that since he has stopped smoking three months ago, he's been putting the money he's saved into a special account. Plus he had recently gotten a raise. He wanted to use the money for special things including some charitable donations. He wanted to pick up the tab, this birthday dinner was on him. I think there were 13 of us! We accepted his offer and thanked him.

So I will feature a picture of my brother in law who turned out to be out host this evening. Thanks, Bryan!
