Photoessay #857 - Letterbox production

I've lost so many letterboxes. One aspect of placing so many boxes (42) in a comparatively short time is that they are always disappearing and you have to replace them.

I've also enjoyed placing them in places that I (or Gin) have visited. Though, it's much harder to maintain them.

Here's the list of ones that are currently gone

Bat Mitzvah in Lafayette IN. I thought I had a good place for this one but it disappeared immediately

Lyons Creek Enhancement Project - Culvert - that was the one where I had a quality interaction with a security guard. I would still like to replace it

Lyons Creek Enhancement Project - Pond - That was right near a Bank of America Branch that's completely torn up so it will take a lot more research

Shoreline Library - A very popular box, lots of people found it. I will replace it

Softball Series - Go Thunder - at Sportscore in Rockford IL. We checked it maybe in April and it was fine. I'm probably going there in the next month or two and I'll see if I can find it.

Team Meeting - in this little park right near the Northgate QFC. Ya' know, that place is just kind of creepy so I might abandon it.

The Old Ferry Dock - in a dock in Madison Park on Lake Washington. There was a ferry dock around there, I figure out that no way was this the old ferry dock. I might replace it but Gin really had to scamper down to put it underneath the dock

I immersed myself in letterbox production this afternoon. I carved some stamps while watching part of the Washington/Notre Dame football game on TV. I made one box to replace the Bark part of 'Swim 'n Bark' at Mountlake Terrace which I placed today. The other two I'm going to take on our trip and place wherever suits my fancy.

You can see the stamps, boxes, duct tape, ribbon, little books for the finders and the First Finder gifts which are members of the 2006 U Oregon softball team.
