On to Rockford

No blog entry yesterday, Too much stress and things going on. Now at the Seattle airport waiting for a delayed flight to Chicago and on to Rockford. My mom’s doing great after her defribulator surgery, taken 10 years off her age. I told her that I wanted to come visit when she’s feeling good, not wait until some crisis. When Teresa’s band did not make State last weekend, it opened up this weekend for my sister. So decided to go though I had to struggle to find some flights. And they weren’t cheap. I asked Sam, our neighborhood cab driver, to take me. Then, I investigated the local bus; turns out I could take it though I would have to wrestle my suitcase myself on and off buses. But I chickened out and Sam was there bright and early in the world’s cleanest cab. He scrubs that cab every day.
I have all my things as carry on. Taking the risk that I can find someone who will lift my bag into the overhead racks. On e of these days, I’m going to get caught on that one. I also have Dennis’ cute little computer with me. I intend to take it to jury duty next week.
C still in hospital. If all goes well, he will be in there for 7-10 more days. You know it’s serious when they say that. But a lot of the invasive interventions have been lifted. I told his wife that it’s just not his time to go. Said that I fully expected he would be in a regular room on my return. Thanks to M for accompanying her to the hospital. I would do it if I hadn’t planned this trip.
Parent group went fine last night. For the third week in a row, attendance less than 40 (36). Then again, we don’t know why it rose to over 40 in January. At the last minute, M got a call that Susan who was supposed to give the program go caught in an emergency at work. So, we had to get a program together, right now. Rodney stepped in and did a program on I-team support. David wondered what to do with the 5 cakes left over from the auction in his freezer. I suggested raffling them off one cake per week I remembered seeing a big roll of raffle tickets. Sure enough they were there. We made $17 on the cake.
A frustrating work hassle. I had a list of ‘Don’t Go There ‘ topics posted on my wall yet, when pushed by the big boss on those exact things, I took the bait and engaged on them. And, of course, lost. Rolls eyes.
Big football game on Satuday. Hyped by the TV folks as the Pac 10 game of the year. Oregon vs USC. At Autzen Stadium on Halloween night. Oh man, that’s going to be WILD. Those Duck fans bring it; Autzen, though extensively remodeled and updated, has the stands go up right off the field. No track or extra space so it’s really loud. As one of the Oregon players said in an interview “It ought to be pretty wicked” Exactly. We’ll probably watch it on TV at my mom’s.
My sister will be there (but not my niece). My brother will come with his two cats (Bogart and Bacall). My mother loves it when the cats come to visit.

Update--My mom and I went to the local Chinese buffet place for dinner. I like that place. Coconut shrimp and green beans. What's better is that mom had soup, three plates of food and finished it off with a chocolate ice cream cone. A few months ago she seriously not eating, just didn't want to

More updates: Called M about how C was doing. She said, I'm sitting right here with T (his wife) and C and we're having a nice visit. But, it's totally against the rules to talk on a cell phone in here so I can't let the nurses see me. I asked to talk to C. I didn't have anything particular to say, just wanted to hear his voice. "I guess I'm ok" he said. I was SOOOO relieved to hear him.

And more: Called home and Teddy was barking away. Dennis has a perpetual motion machine going. Years ago he bought a novelty Halloween item at RiteAid. A skeleton who dances to "Shout". Lights flash. Sound activated. Brings it out at Halloween if he remembers. Teddy's scared of it. So the skeleton sings and dances, Teddy barks which makes the skeleton dance more which makes Teddy bark more. You get the picture....
