From Hartford Courant 4/3/1949. It's a standard engagement announcement 3 paragraphs long or so. But it's the head line that keeps coming back to me. Claire Baumann was my mother. And she was marrying my father Allen Ginsburgh. And he was in a Nuclear Engineering masters program at Harvard at the time.
But look what is most important, what was the hot news. My mother was a professional girl scout in Hartford at the time. And look at her prize. A Harvard Graduate Student. High praise indeed. And high status.
It was indeed true. But somehow it didn't seem that way. To them. Or maybe it did.
