Susanna and Megan went to Roslyn for Susanna's birthday. On the other side of Snoqualmie Pass. I heard that the pass (I-90) was closed. They are on their way now. Susanna said they had put chains on their car; Wash Dept of Trans was requiring them. The picture was from within the last half hour uphill from where they started. Looks pretty rough.
People who live in other snowy places tell me that they never use chains, don't own them. You do need them here. Though it has been quite a few years since we have had used them in Seattle. They don't plow much here at all. The roads quickly become treacherous.
It does not snow here in Seattle every year. Of course, it snows in the mountains, the Cascades and the Olympics. But you should always have them in the car. Because you never know when you are going to need them. And then, you will really need them and you will be so glad that you've got them.
Susanna and Megan chained up the car and they are going over the mountains as I write this.
