I've been making inquires about Operation Benjamin, a non-profit formed to mark WWII soldier's graves which have been mistakenly marked with a cross. This has been recently done with my cousin Allan Franken in the Philippines. His new marker shown above. It's a Jewish custom to put a stone on a marker to show you've been there. I talked to the director, who was in Israel. I might do some volunteer work for them. I hope to talk to their in-home genealogist this week. Mary Ann is also going to look in the scrapbook of soldiers in the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven. My cousin Rabbi John Franken is a member of their Board.
