Mom's role

Here's a picture of Ilana doing her job on County Council during lengthy budget hearings.  She's about six hours into it in this shot.  The Council is shown on the left.  She's on the very right facing the audience.  That's her spot.  The right part shows the three people testifying and the crowd attending.  This hearing will go on for at least one, maybe two days.  She gives me the heads-up so I can watch it livestreamed on youtube.

So I watch my girl.  I know what she's doing.  She self-soothes by twisting her hair in her fingers.  I know she wants to stop that habit but six hours into the meeting?  She's twirling her hair.

Dennis says, "you could text her?"  Seems awful mom-ish.  But after while, I think I'm the only one who might help.  So I do text her to consider stopping playing with her hair.  I can't really tell what's going on.  She answers "ha."  But I notice that she has stopped twirling her hair.  She's gotten the message.

Afterward, she called me and laughed, she wasn't mad.  She showed the text to other Council members that her mom was looking out for her.
