Third Place Commons is a large community area located next to a big independent book store on the top floor of an older shopping center in Lake Forest Park. The idea was that it would be a place in the public, not home not work but a place for community. It's been there about 20 years and it's been a hit since the beginning. It was taken over by a local non-profit near the beginning. They also put on the Farmers Market.
I've been there many many times meeting friends or with groups. There's lots of tables and chairs. I went there on early afternoon the other day. The ladies on the left are working on water colors. I'm meeting my friend Kathy there tomorrow afternoon.
The regular students in my Cultural Geography class have to do a project regarding a public place. The Access Students don't do the project, well they can always do the project but not turn it in. Unless the instructor agrees. I decided I did want to do it (even though I've missed the deadline for the first part) and she said I could. I did finish the first part which included a visit (I took the pictures during the visit) plus a short essay. If I could get it going, I could finish the second part by Friday night. It would take some doing but I would be all caught up.
We buy all of our books at Third Place. Wouldn't dream of doing anything else.
