Pronounced with the 'h' sound; she's Salvadoran.
Naomi's friend Julia took us to this authentic Salvadoran restaurant in a hispanic area of Phoenix. Julia suggested that we order pupusas.
According to wikipedia:
A pupusa is a traditional Salvadoran dish made of a thick,
handmade corn tortilla that is usually filled with a blend of the
following:
cheese
cooked pork meat ground to a paste consistency
refried beans, or queso con loroco.
Yup, that's what they were and so delicious!
Julia's a teacher in Naomi's school. They do a lot together outside of school as well as support each other in school. It's good to have friends! Julia and her fiance are looking for a new place to live and so is Naomi. Naomi's decided that her current apartment is just too expensive for an elementary school teacher salary. So they're visiting places together.
We really enjoyed meeting Julia!
Naomi thinks she's found one over $200/month cheaper than her current one. A little rougher area but another friend lives there and says it's been fine. Run locally with a lot of the staff also living in the small complex.
