Portland wanderings
We met Ilana midday Saturday after her conference in Portland. The hotel was no great shakes; so we took the street car into downtown to go to Powell's books and maybe some cafes. We did a fair amount of wandering around; went to Powell's books twice and generally looked for places to sit and talk.
All with no preparation to speak of.
We ended up at these three places
Pearl Bakery, I was tempted to buy some of their baked goods, recommended by somebody at Powell's
Clyde Common, kind of a trendy happy hour place. Very rare for us to do this but we had drinks and some fancy bar garloic cashews and popcorn
Cha Cha Cha Taqueria - we were aiming for a tapas place but they were too busy so we stopped at this tiny place and their food was pretty good and we had a quiet place.
Then streetcar back to the hotel (well may not straight there). The hotel was fine but big time noisy with streetcar noise.
