Photoessay #2802 - Thanksgiving past

My cousin Lynn posted on Facebook about their Thanksgiving this year.  She mentions that Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday growing up.  Mine too.  And we are remembering the same Thanksgivings.  Likely in a different way.

Here's a picture from my father's slides.  It was in a 1968 box but I'm thinking it's more 1964.  I'm the oldest...maybe I'm 12?  I would go even a bit older.  But my sister, Pam, in the middle.  She was always very small as a young child but I don't think I would put her more than 5.

Certainly, at the time, I felt a bit pushed.  Why should I hang out with all of these little kids?  Of course, 50 years later, those age differences don't make a bit of difference any more.  Though I still act as the big sister telling everybody what to do.

So I'm standing above those little kids.  Lynn B, Mark B, Pam, Charlie, June B.

Taken in our backyard in Sacramento CA at Thanksgiving.  The leaves have not all quite fallen, though late afternoon, the sun is still bright.

As 'the oldest', I usually got stuck with washing a lot of the dishes.  But it was still good.
