Photoessay #2787 - It's gonna be a big Thanksgiving

I am thrilled to report that I'm back planning the Really Big Thanksgiving.  I like having lots of people.  This picture is my living room for Thanksgiving 2007.  Was that the year that I had 19?  Not sure.  But this was what my living room looked like for that Thanksgiving meal.  A bit full, don't you think?  No that's not the biggest year because the couch is still there.  During the biggtest year, we had to move the couch out to the deck.

In 2007, a very large proportion of the guests were high school and college age and I thought to myself, this will never last.  I like this but it won't endure. All these people are going to be growing up and having their own households.

And my Thanksgivings did start to decline.  Last year I had only 5 people!  I kept waiting for more guests to develop but it didn't happen.  Just Danny, Jessica and Naomi, sigh.

But, this year, my friends, the Garrisons, said they wanted to start coming again.  I was SO happy.  Keep in mind that Ilana is in Indiana and she and Matt are hosting their own Thanksgiving, inviting my brother and sister.  Susanna is in Alabama and she'll be doing something else.  Naomi is in Macao but she'll be home by then.

So what's ramping it up?  I'm now at 18.  Families of significant others, for this year anyway.  Megan is coming and bringing her dad and sister.  And Jessica's family is coming up (her mom, step-dad and her two half-sisters) so that's 7 people right there.  Dennis and I are happy that these folks are coming.  They are more than welcome.  Our house is not that big so when we set up the living room and dining room area to seat that many people, there's nowhere else for people to sit.

Dennis is going to look into renting some tables and chairs.  I think I might have borrowed a table.  Usually we patch it together with what we have.  Or we've been known to use the 4x8 piece of plywood;.  But the plywood thing takes up so much room, too big considering the number of people.

We'll figure it out; it will happen.
