Photoessay #2552 Janine's wedding - and blogging from a tablet

The real challenge is figuring out howto update my blog from a tablet.

Definitely do not have the hang of it.

Janine succesfully married Matt  Sl (to distinguish him from Matt St, the next prospective groom) with Ilana as maid of honor and Matt St serving as important support staff.

But not without major incident.

Janine had her heart set on an outdoor wedding at a farm location.  Others cautioned her, what if it's pouring rain with no inside option?  No, she was sure it would work.  Might I add there was no parking and it would have been just about impossible to get the grandmas in attendance down that slope even in good conditions.

But it wasn't good conditions.  More like dreadful conditions.  A major pricipitation event, as they say, complete with gusty winds.  All morning it poured.

The farm people gamely set the chairs and tents up.  A half hour before, the rain and wind reached monsoon conditions.  We knew we had some talent but the real hero was the groom's aunt, a pastor's wife who knew how to handle this sort of situation.    Somehow, with the director of the farm site, they made contact with the principal of a local Christian elementary school and convinced her to let the wedding move there.  A volleyball tournament was going on in their main gym but they had a smaller gym.

So the whole event moved there, ceremony, reception, decorations, bride, etc.

So the guests all helped out.  The school had tables and chairs and classrooms to get ready.  Turns out that an elementary school gym is an excellent place to have a wedding.  Even if you wanted a beautiful outdoor venue.  Who knew?

Uncle Jerry walked the bride down the (short) aisle.  The bridesmaids and groomsmen were all there.  The groom's uncle married them.  Everybody was happy,  Then the guests broke down the chairs and tables and chairs, the table decorations came out,the caterer arrived.  It was all supposed to be in the elementary school gym, right?

Many thanks to the Richmond Christian Elementary in Richmond BC for making this happen!
