But no.
When I was at Yale, the archivist asked me if I had seen all the school records at the Ethnic Heritage Center. At the Center itself, not the Jewish Historical Society.
No, I didn't know anything about them.
As usual, I hear about what I have to do next, just as I'm heading out of town.
So I write Marv (archivist at Jewish Historical Society) and he replies
They do have ledgers with records of NH Board of Ed. meetings, committee meetings and superintendent meetings from the late 1800's.Gee, I was just THERE for the better part of three days. I could have looked at them right then if I had known about them. (I'm 3000 miles away).
I have seen the minutes of Board of Education at the Colony on a previous trip (pictured). The handwriting, while beautiful, is really hard to read. Is that they have? At that time the people at the Colony had said that they had never been transcribed.
I do agree with Charl that there's no 'low hanging fruit' at Yale. But the Yale archivist's comment saying that papers of community members had been directed to the Colony makes me think that there are some additional things at the Colony if I knew how to look for them.
But I have TONS of material to process from our recent trips. I think the education materials will still be there.
