So, it's Saturday afternoon and I'm back from Connecticut. All went well but that trip from Chicago to Seattle took FOREVER!
Trip went well. Our unplanned surprise delight was eating lunch twice in the Yale Law School cafeteria. It's right next door to the Sterling Memorial Library where we were working in Archives and Manuscripts. Maybe not getting too far but we were still working.
Temperature outside about 15 degrees. I asked where we could have lunch, the law school is right next door.
So we just waltz on in and had lunch twice. OK, everybody there looked really really smart. And/or important and distinguished. You know Yale Law, Barack Obama, Hilary Clintons, etc. And we were hanging out with all of those future leaders of the world. Mary Ann said that she didn't think that you could even go there. Charlie says "What's the big deal with getting into Yale Law School? You just walk in the front door and you're in!"
And, get this, there are many students and others there, the tables are full. But only a very few were texting or looking at their phones. They were talking with each other, serious, like engrossing conversations face to face. Remember that's what the really smart people do.
Charlie did get busted for taking pictures of some woodwork. Woodwork? Really? The security guard came running up and made him delete the picture. But we did not get tossed out.
We're trying to think of how we can work this into our conversations this week..."Last week, at Yale Law School, I..."
I took some pictures of Charl and Mary Ann just to proof we'd been there. OK, we were fooling around. Can't find those pictures but I will leave you with a picture that I got from the Yale daily.
