One of the highlights of our trip was spending time at a Cousin Extravaganza hosted by my talented (and famous) second cousin Flash Rosenberg, an New York City artist. We had a great time, seeing some sights, visitiing and eating some more.
Flash took thisi picture of Dennis and I in the afternoon. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, we were sitting at the edge of Bryant Park behind the New York Public Library watching workers construct the skating rink and glass house. I had vaguely heard about this but none of us had really thought of how it came to be.
My cousin Mary Ann, Dennis and I had come up on the train from N'Haven. Flash's mom, sister, niece were also visiting. We had such a great time visiting and catching up and marveling at all the parts of Flash's successful Manhattan lifestyle.
Flash currently has a piece in the Moth Radio Hour which just aired. Hear it here; she's Segment 1. Here's a video version.
She's an inspiration for me. It surprised me that we had similar themes in our artistic interests. Though certainly I have nowhere near the talent or accomplishment. I think that was one reason Dennis wanted to come on the trip, he wanted to meet Flash, who he had heard about for so long. The real thing, he agrees.
