Photoessay #2058 - Aqua?
This morning we went to my old haunt the Jewish Historical Society in the Ethnic Heritage Center at Southern Community State University. Werner and Marvin were there and a good time was had by all. I found I was more interested in the obits for the children and grandchildren of Maier Zunder plus found another picture. We'll be back on Thursday.
Then we poked around the block where Maier had his store. I was hoping to find some artifact. State Street at the foot of Crown. Some older buildings, some with the right number of stories but the building most likely was built in 1920 (said that on the front). Too young. Couldn't find anything. Then, went to the law firm building housed in two houses put together probably in the 1960s. We never did see the principal who had invited us but we chatted with two receptionists who were friendly and helpful.
Then I found that my camera battery had completely died. "Take pictures with your phones." Of course, everybody takes pictures with their phones. So there's Dennis, Mary Ann and me and we have these clam shell old phones and we don't know how to take pictures with our phones or just barely. So there were are, sixty somethings, trying to do it and it's pretty funny because we are so clueless.
Luckily, were were then on the fourth floor and not bothering anybody. Mine, if I could ever figure out how to save them looked dreadful. I couldn't figure how to send them. Later Dennis managed to do that with mine but not Mary Ann's. Why do they look so bad?? I want to know. Dennis says "Why do you have it set at the very lowest resolution with the 'aqua' option?" The aqua option? I have no idea.
How did that happen. Nobody knows. I'm using one of my pictures taken with the aqua option. Picture is of the outer wall with an old chimney. They exposed the original brick. In Maier's time, I'm sure there were plaster interior walls. The family story was that Maier let Jews from Russia and Eastern Europe stay in the fourth floor of his house until they got settled.
