Photoessay #2050 - Nurse Stumps

The beautiful weather continues here even into October.  A little scary, it should get gray and rainy pretty soon.

Today Dennis wanted to go on an outing; he wanted the woods rather than the shore.  So we went out to one of our favorite parks, Farrell-McWhirter park in Redmond.  The big draw is farm animals, chance to get close to goats, sheep, pigs, ponies, cows and whoever else happens to be there.  We used to go there with Melina a lot when she was younger.  Actually we all liked it; there was always somebody knew.  Once she told me that she had heard there were baby pigs out there, well we HAD to check that out.  We were kind of sad when Melina tired of it and wanted to go somewhere else.

I had a letterbox out there but it kept disappearing even though I changed the location.  But, I see some new boxes, let's go get it a try.  It's also not that far away.  So we discover the north parking lot near the horse arena (this park has lots of stuff).  Over the next hour or so, we find 4 letter boxes and they are ALL behind nurse stumps.  Many stumps, besides being big and rotting, provide the basis for a new tree which grows on top of it.  Some look pretty darn weird.

We hiked along a bunch of short trails above the farm that intersected each other a lot.  I wasn't carrying the camera,,,but I took a picture of Dennis and Teddy next to a nurse stump right by the parking lot.

There's a million of 'em.
